The Observant Naturalist is an educational, nonprofit organization based in Boulder, Colorado.
We offer inquiry-based science workshops that focus on science topics people can readily experience in their "everyday" lives. In astronomy, these are the apparent motions of the Sun, Moon, stars, and planets, and how ancient cultures kept track of time by observing the sky. In geology, these are how rocks and the landscape tell the geologic history of the area. Potentially, the most valuable skill we teach is the scientific process and how to be a good observer. In stores now!
Exciting News! My how-to mountaineering book has hit the shelves. This book is intended as an introduction to the tools and techniques needed to travel safely over snowy terrain by kicking steps, using an ice ax, and wearing crampons when necessary. The book is being published through The Mountaineers Books-Outdoor Expert Series. Click the link below to learn more: http://www.mountaineersbooks.org/Snow-Travel-P995.aspx
